Nicotine vs. TAR

Nicotine is not entirely understood by everyone. Yes, it’s found in tobacco, but did you know it is also found in other plants, such as tomatoes, potatoes, peppers and eggplants?
What you should know: The leading cause of smoking-related diseases, including cancer, is carcinogenic smoke and TAR, formed during the tobacco burning process. It is NOT nicotine.
Smoke contains a mix of solid and liquid particles found in the residue, which is referred to as TAR. As smoke-free products don’t burn tobacco, they don’t create smoke or solid particles, so TAR is not present.
Scientific research confirms that traditional cigarettes are the most harmful way to consume nicotine. Nicotine is addictive, but it is not the main cause of smoking-related harm. That comes from smoke containing more than 7,000 chemicals.
Another common misconception about nicotine is that it causes yellow stains on teeth and fingers, when in fact tar is responsible for discoloration. Nicotine in its purest form is a colorless, odorless liquid. Smoke-free alternatives that deliver nicotine without burning or smoke, can present Nepal’s smokers who don’t quit with a far better option.
